Local Police Antwerp Tower

Impressive Master Building for Antwerp Police Force

Sector: Buildings

In March 2023, BESIX received the availability certificate for the new Antwerp Police Force building, marking the completion of their largest PPP project in Belgium and beginning a 25-year maintenance period. This state-of-the-art facility in Berchem will serve as the new base for 2,200 police officers, centralizing all policy implementation and supporting agencies.

The new 78,000 square meter master building is an architectural marvel with two ten-story towers connected by a four-story central core. It also includes four underground levels for parking and logistics. Designed for its purpose, it features specialized facilities like interview rooms, sports areas, and detention zones with advanced safety tech. The building's impressive glass façade floods it with natural light and offers stunning views, prioritizing the comfort and flexibility of the 2,200 police officers who will work there.

Strategically located on the former Antwerp postal sorting center site, the master building ensures easy city accessibility. AG Vespa, the municipal real estate and urban projects company, awarded the PPP project to the Post X LPA consortium in 2017, with BESIX as the exclusive EPC contractor overseeing design, construction, financing, and a 25-year maintenance commitment. The attainment of the availability certificate signifies the successful conclusion of this ambitious PPP project, representing a major milestone for BESIX and its collaborators.
